In 1986, California voters approved the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act, known as Proposition 65, requiring businesses to provide warnings to customers about potential exposure to chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm.
Products with any amount of substances covered by Proposition 65 — even at levels that may not be harmful — must carry this warning unless proven to have “no significant risk” of exposure.
Since almost all electronic products contain 1 or more of the chemicals listed under Proposition 65, we added this warning on our product pages and packaging to make sure our customers stay informed:
This product can expose you to chemicals including Lead and DEHP, which are known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. For more information go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov
With FoxFury products, the exposure may be well within the “no significant risk” range; however, we choose to put the Proposition 65 warning label on our products to help you make an informed purchase decision.
According to the California government, “The fact that a product bears a Proposition 65 warning does not mean by itself that the product is unsafe.”
They also explain, “You could think of Proposition 65 more as a ‘right to know’ law than a pure product safety law.” (http://www.p65warnings.ca.gov)
